ACA Marketplace FAQ
When is 2027 ACA Open Enrollment?
On the federal platform (HealthCare.gov), Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1 through December 15, 2026, with coverage starting January 1, 2027. State-based Exchanges set their own windows, which must end by December 31 and last no more than nine weeks.
What is APTC?
An advance premium tax credit can lower the monthly premium for eligible Marketplace coverage. The Marketplace determines eligibility from application information.
What is CSR?
Cost-sharing reductions can lower deductibles, copayments and coinsurance for eligible consumers who select a Silver Marketplace plan.
What do Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum mean?
Marketplace metal categories describe how costs are shared between you and the plan. They do not measure quality of care.
Can I enroll outside Open Enrollment?
Some consumers can enroll or change plans through a Special Enrollment Period after qualifying life events. Medicaid and CHIP applications are available year-round.
